Refund policy
At IH Pentz Booksellers, we strive to provide quality books and excellent service. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please review our policy below.
Returns
We have a 7-day return policy, meaning you have 7 days from the date of receiving your order to request a return.Â
To be eligible for a return, the item must:Â
- be in the same condition as received.
- Be unused and free from damage, markings, highlighting, writing, or other signs of use.
- Include all accompanying materials, where applicable.
- Be returned in its original packaging.Â
- Be accompanied by proof of purchase (receipt, invoice, or order confirmation).

To initiate a return, please contact us at ijak.pentz@wits.ac.za. Returns sent without prior authorization may not be accepted.
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless:
- The item received is incorrect.
- The item arrives damaged.
- The item is defective
Returns of second-hand books will only be accepted if:
- The book received differs significantly from its advertised condition.
- The wrong item was supplied.
- The item arrives damaged in transit.
Minor signs of wear consistent with the stated condition are not considered grounds for return.Â
Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items
Please inspect your order upon receipt. If you receive a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, contact us within 48 hours of delivery at ijak.pentz@wits.ac.za with your order number and photographs of the issue where applicable.
We will assess the matter and arrange a replacement, exchange, store credit, or refund as appropriate.
Non-returnable items
The following items are not eligible for return or refund:
- Special-order or imported titles ordered specifically for a customer.
- E-books or digital products.
- Gift cards or gift vouchers.
- Sale, clearance, or discounted items unless faulty.
- Books damaged after delivery due to misuse, neglect, or normal wear and tear.
Special Orders and Textbooks
Special-order books, custom imports, and titles sourced specifically at a customer's request cannot be cancelled or returned once the order has been placed with the supplier, except in cases of supplier defects or fulfillment errors.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the ISBN, edition, and title ordered are correct before completing their purchase.
Exchanges
Where stock is available, eligible items may be exchanged. If the requested replacement is unavailable, a refund or store credit may be offered at our discretion.
Refunds
Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will notify you whether your refund has been approved.
If approved, refunds will be processed to the original payment method used for the purchase. Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to be reflected, depending on your bank or payment provider.
Original shipping charges are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error, a defective item, or damage incurred during shipment.
